Pre-Seminary Major

This major provides training for the student who plans to continue his or her education at a graduate level school of theology or seminary. Upon completion of this program the student will be able to:

  1. Articulate a basic grasp of biblical knowledge and theology in light of diverse religions, cultures, and ethnic backgrounds.
  2. Demonstrate an adequate mastery of Greek to meet the entrance requirements of the best conservative graduate seminaries in America.
  3. Display breadth of knowledge in general education to satisfy seminary entrance requirements.
  4. Begin to understand the demands, methods and qualifications of vocational Christian ministry today.

B.S. and B.Min. students majoring in the Pre-Seminary major must complete the following courses:
 

BL 302, 303, 404 Elementary Greek 1, 2, 3 9 credits
GS 203 Introduction to Philosophy 3 credits
BL 405 Greek Exegesis 3 credits
CE 498 Preseminary Internship 3 credits

 
B.S. students with the Preseminary major must select nine additional credit hours of electives for their major from the following list of courses:

CM 305 History of Missions 3 credits
CS 308 Educational Psychology 3 credits
CM 309 Living World Religions 3 credits
GS 213 Introduction to Music 3 credits
BT 407 Apologetics 3 credits
BT 408 Scientific Creationism 3 credits
GS 413 Philosophy 2 3 credits

B.S. students majoring in Pre-Seminary should plan to take courses according to the following schedule. It is highly recommended that the student follow this particularly in order to allow four consecutive semesters to take Greek.
